Baltimore, MD, April 3rd, 2017 -- Parchman, Vaughan & Company, L.L.C., education sector investment banker, is pleased to announce that James A. Rowan is joining the firm as a Partner.

Mr. Rowan recently served as the Managing Director, Senior Advisor, and Education Group Head of Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Inc. In 1993, Mr. Rowan joined Legg Mason Capital Markets, which was subsequently acquired by Stifel Nicolaus, and played an integral part in developing the firm's significant investment banking role in the proprietary education and training industries. He was a venture capitalist for six years and prior to that was a Senior Financial Executive at ITT Corporation and City Investing Company, based in New York and London. Mr. Rowan has been an Independent Director of National American University Holdings, Inc., since November 2014. He is a Trustee of Waynesburg University (Pennsylvania), and is on the Financial Advisory Council of CECU (Career Education Colleges and Universities).

Mr. Rowan remains active in alumni affairs at The Lawrenceville School (N.J.) and Cornell University, where he is on the Dean's Leadership Committee for the Johnson Graduate School of Management. A graduate of Lawrenceville, he received a Bachelor's degree in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Cornell University.

"Jim is the Dean of the education banking world" said Lara Vaughan, Partner. "He brings unparalleled experience to us. We've known him for the last 20 years and have been on the other side of the table in transactions as well as competing for business. Jim is a great addition to Parchman Vaughan.  Our team is uniquely positioned to serve clients as they address the changing dynamics and growth opportunities in the education space."

"Well-positioned, financed and managed education and training companies--both private and public, will continue to play a meaningful role in the education universe," Mr. Rowan said. "We are committed to enabling their success as creative and sound financial partners. I look forward to being a vital part of Parchman Vaughan's growth."

"With our combined experience and networks, Parchman Vaughan is poised to serve the education technology and service sectors. While many firms have pulled back their coverage of the industry, we are fully committed to this exciting sector," commented Todd Parchman, Partner.
